Bren Vienrich-Felling (she/ her) is an international award winning Peruvian-German American filmmaker and educator. Her practice is dedicated to identity and documentary-driven narratives in an effort to present new ways of seeing ourselves and our surroundings. She also actively experiments with ecological and tactile elements in an effort to develop new approaches in experimental filmmaking.
Her short film, “Talk to Me” (2024) on the theory of plant communication, was selected for Best Film at the 2024 Durham UK Film Festival, in addition to being selected for the 2025 London Short Film Festival, the 2024 Micropolitan Film Festival, and the 2024 Cindependent Short Film Festival. Her analog experimental short, “Under the Tooth” (2024) was selected for the 2025 Moviate Underground Film Festival. Her film "Full Moon Over Palcazú" was a finalist at the 2025 Buenos Aires International Film Festival in Argentina.
Bren holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a Master of Fine Arts from Duke University’s Experimental and Documentary Arts program, and a Certificate in College Teaching from Duke University. She has experience in filmmaking, multimedia arts and teaching. Bren is currently serving a one-year role as Instructor for Cinematic Arts within the Art, Art History and Visual Studies department at Duke University.
