Biography
Bren Vienrich-Felling (she/ her) is a Peruvian-American filmmaker, photographer, designer and educator who explores stories focused on themes related to human connections in nature, identity and habitual practices. At the heart of her practice is a fascination with the undervalued: human interactions with everyday rituals, the reimagining of organic materials and the persistent presence of nature within a landscape overhauled by man-made systems.
Bren’s short film, “Talk to Me” (2024) on the theory of plant communication, was selected for Best Film at the 2024 Durham UK Film Festival, in addition to being selected for the 2025 London Short Film Festival, the 2024 Micropolitan Film Festival, and the 2024 Cindependent Short Film Festival. Her analog experimental short, “Under the Tooth” (2024) was selected for the 2025 Moviate Underground Film Festival.
Bren is a Master of Fine Arts candidate in the Experimental and Documentary Arts program at Duke University, a 2024–2025 Kenan Institute for Ethics Graduate Arts Fellow, a Deans Research Awards Recipient and works as a teaching assistant within the Art, Art History and Visual Studies Program at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
